I’ll always remember coming here as a teen and the day I bought her from here.Working at Pet Smart is not a job, it's a community of those who work together for the love of pets. I don’t know what has happened to this place as far as the management or upkeep, but a part of me is grateful for having the privilege of owning my rabbit Butters for over 10 years, even shelter rabbits I have had in the past have not outlived her. Not many rabbits live past 8 years, and I am lucky to have had so many memories with such a small, lovely little rabbit such as she. She has been with me through many break ups, a divorce after 8 years, my dad’s death, and several other harsh circumstances. I don’t know what has had her pull through all these years, but she’s going downhill fast due to aging and she has given me the best 11 years of my life. On the way home I decided to name her Butters, short for Butterscotch. The owner talked to me for about 20 minutes making sure I knew how to take care of a rabbit and what to expect. They ran out of cardboard carriers so I brought her home in a small soap box the store had on hand. She was a hyper little thing, pawing at the glass. He even had the rabbit set aside for me and told the owner I was coming to pick it up. I remember saving up money from my part time job to come down and buy the rabbit my dad told me about. Eleven years ago, in June 2003, my dad came here and saw an orange and white lop rabbit and thought it would be a great little animal companion for me. One of the most endearing animal companions of mine came from this little dinky place.
