![]() ![]() ![]() After the wiring was completed, Art loaded the backup camera option to the vehicle’s software and programmed the radio to accept the image using our dealer level WI-tech computer. That’s where it would plug into the existing touch screen radio. After that, Art ran the wiring required from the rear of the vehicle to the front. So, Art began by removing the existing tailgate trim and installing the new backup camera assembly in the back. The backup camera addition was tasked to MECP certified technician Art Dougan. After the ok, Doug ordered all the necessary parts and had them in stock for the installation. So, Carol decided that this was the very gift for her daughter and purchased the system as a gift. 2019 Dodge Journey Backup Camera gets MECP Installation This includes, fitting the camera under the rear tailgate area and providing a nice clear picture to the factory Uconnect radio screen. Because he did research, Doug determined we were able to add the factory backup camera to the vehicle! That means, no universal camera on this vehicle! In fact, the backup camera was the exact camera package that came from the factory. Does it have the factory touch screen now? Does it have the beeping backup sensor option? Doug got the specifics on the vehicle and did a little research. Because of that, maneuvering the vehicle around town has become more difficult.ĭoug asked Carol a couple of questions regarding the vehicle. Ashley lives and works in Corry and since their parking went to back in only. So, Carol stopped into the store and spoke with our Integration Specialist Doug Reichert about adding a backup camera. That’s because, Ashley had purchased a 2019 Dodge Journey and it did not come equipped with a backup camera. She was looking for the perfect gift for her daughter Ashley. What great customer service!!! Very nice product for the price and even better customer service from etrailer.Carol is a Corry resident and a returning ENORMIS Mobile Specialties customer. Jenny from reached out to the manufacturer and came back with the manufacturers suggestion to turn OFF the phones option to automatically connect to WiFi signals (in your phones settings under WiFi). I did have an issue with the camera losing WiFi signal as I went through towns and settlements with stronger WiFi signal along roadside businesses than the WiFi signal from the camera resulting in the camera to freeze and in turn required me to shut down the phone and restart the application. I recommend watching the video on this as there are a couple of helpful hints that will make installation go smoother. Installation was fairly straight forward. I use it primarily to keep an eye out on my bike rack mounted on the trailers rear hitch and at times when reversing into a parking space. My travel trailer is 30’ long and I do not have any signal connectivity issues at this length. I use this camera in conjunction with my iPhone X. Also as you drive through towns with roadside businesses that have strong wifi signals, then you lose wifi connection resulting in picture freeze and need to shutdown phone and start up phone snd camera all over again - major pain. Then I have to shut down phone and -connect all over again as the video freezes due to one of these events. Major problem is encountered should your phone go into sleep mode or you get a call or switch apps or lose wifi connection. Nice picture, good installation video with nice tips on. It's OK for my application but not great. I use it in co junction with iPhone X to mainly keep an eye on my bike rack behind the camper. I Couldn't give it 5 stars because of the connector problem. It is very adequate for my needs and at a reasonable price. Overall, I would say it functions very well. Had to disconnect and reconnect connector with white alignment dots numerous times before unit worked properly. My particular application will not sense a small dog even when sensors are pitched lowest possible.( high licence plate). The unit seems to work fine but is lacking corner activation, which is to be expected with only two sensors. All was achieved within the back door panel. Removed three small opening covers and exposed the opening to the light wiring and gained access to " fish wire and connector through, without removing paneling. My backup lights are located on the back door hatch. I new it would be, that is why I chose this product. ![]()
